KY Spring Turkey, season dates to be determined.
There’s nothing like sound of gobbles echoing through the East Kentucky Mountains as the gray of night turns to dawn. It doesn’t really matter if you’re a seasoned veteran or the first time turkey hunter you will not forget the chase of a mountain long beard and the sight of him as he finally gives in to our sounds of a lonesome hen.
All hunters are allowed two bearded turkeys here in KY and SCO offers enough area, along with one of North America’s best Eastern Wild Turkey populations making the expectations of going home with two birds a real possibility.
Although experienced turkey hunters are welcome to hunt on their own in unguided areas, SCO also offers a staff of highly experienced, licensed guides. Our guides will take you to an area that will definitely hold mature gobblers that he is familiar along with their daily patterns and the stage of the breeding season. No matter your weapon of choice or physical abilities, your SCO guide will be able to adapt to the situation. He will be able to run and gun being mobile and moving to position you in the perfect set up. He will also be equipped to slow things down and even stay stationary in a quality blind and when necessary call from time to time pulling gobblers in close enough for an archery or shotgun kill. Don’t forget that during our prime turkey season is also prime time for trophy Musky fishing!! Straight Creek also offers access to the South’s top Musky fishing reservoir, Cave Run Lake. Just minutes away, this fishing hole produced the top Musky caught in Kentucky during the fall of 2008 weighing in at 47 Lbs and measured 54 inches long! This is a giant fish in anyone’s book. Yes, you guessed it the SCO staff is also equipped to offer a professionally planned and executed day on the water in pursuit of one these giants known as the fresh water shark.
